Setting up scenes and schedules
After installation we set everything up with you. This guide is a reminder of how it works, for when you want to change things yourself.
1. Connect to Wi-Fi
The controller needs your home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. If your router is far from the controller, a simple mesh point or extender near the garage fixes weak signal.
2. Create zones
Split the house into zones, for example front, garage and back. You can then light only the front on a regular evening and the whole house on holidays.
3. Save scenes
- Open the app and pick a zone.
- Choose colours and an effect.
- Set speed and brightness.
- Save it with a clear name like “Christmas chase”.
4. Schedule by sunset
Use the sunset trigger instead of a fixed time. In Toronto, sunset moves from about 4:45 pm in December to almost 9 pm in June, and the schedule follows it automatically. Add a turn-off time such as 11 pm.
5. Add voice control
Link the app to Amazon Alexa or Google Home, then say “turn on Christmas” or “lights warm white”.
